These terms set out the basis on which School Lab Distributors Ltd supplies laboratory goods to your school, college, or other institution. By requesting a quote or placing an order, you confirm you have read and agreed to them.
The agreement
"We", "us" and "our" mean School Lab Distributors Ltd, a company registered in Kenya with offices at Ambank House, University Way, Nairobi. "You" means the institution placing the order — typically a school, college, university, or training centre — through an authorised representative such as the Head of Department, Bursar, or Procurement Officer.
These terms together with the quotation we issue and any local purchase order (LPO) we accept form the entire agreement between us. They override any standing terms on your LPO unless we expressly accept them in writing.
Quotes & pricing
- Quotations are valid for 30 days from the date of issue, unless we state otherwise.
- Prices are quoted in Kenya Shillings (KES) and are inclusive of VAT at the prevailing rate, unless we explicitly state "exclusive of VAT".
- Delivery costs, where chargeable, are shown as a separate line on the quotation.
- We reserve the right to revise pricing on items subject to currency fluctuation, regulatory cost change, or supplier price update — but only on quotes that have not yet been confirmed by an LPO.
- Specifications, images, and product references on this website and in our catalogues are for guidance. Where a model has been superseded, we will offer an equivalent.
Orders & payment
Placing an order
An order is considered placed when we receive a signed LPO, a written confirmation by email, or a confirmed WhatsApp instruction from an authorised representative referencing our quotation number. We will acknowledge receipt within one working day.
Payment terms
- Established institutions: 30 days from the date of invoice.
- New customers / individual orders: 50% deposit on order, balance on delivery.
- Bulk orders & lab outfitting: milestone payments as agreed in the quotation.
Accepted payment methods: bank transfer (RTGS / EFT), M-Pesa Paybill, or cheque made payable to "School Lab Distributors Ltd". Bank details appear on every invoice. We do not accept cash for orders above KES 50,000.
Late payment
Overdue invoices may attract interest at 1.5% per month, calculated daily, from the due date until paid in full. We may suspend further deliveries on accounts in arrears.
Delivery
- Lead times are quoted in working days and run from order confirmation, not from quotation.
- Nairobi metro: typically same day to 2 working days.
- Upcountry: 3–7 working days, subject to courier availability.
- Delivery times are estimates given in good faith. We are not liable for delays caused by events outside our reasonable control (couriers, weather, civic disruption, supplier stock issues).
- Risk passes to you on delivery; title passes once full payment has been received.
- You must inspect goods on delivery and notify us in writing within 48 hours of any visible damage or shortage.
Chemicals & controlled goods
Certain chemicals and apparatus we supply are restricted under Kenyan law (NEMA, Pharmacy & Poisons Board, and others). By ordering such items you confirm:
- The goods are intended exclusively for educational use within a registered teaching laboratory.
- You hold any licences or institutional approvals required to receive and store them.
- You will store, handle, and dispose of them in line with the manufacturer's safety data sheet (SDS), which we provide on request.
- You will not on-sell, transfer, or divert these items to any third party.
We reserve the right to decline or limit any order for controlled goods at our discretion.
Warranty & returns
- Equipment carries the original manufacturer's warranty (typically 12 months for electronics, lifetime against manufacturing defect for borosilicate glassware). Specific terms are stated on the invoice or product datasheet.
- Defective goods within the warranty period will be repaired, replaced, or refunded at our discretion.
- Chemicals, consumables, and bespoke or special-order items are non-returnable once delivered, except where a manufacturing defect is established.
- Standard catalogue items may be returned unused, in original packaging, within 14 days of delivery for a refund less a 10% restocking fee.
Liability
We accept liability for direct loss caused by our negligence, up to the total value of the affected order. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or economic loss — including loss of teaching time, examination disruption, or third-party claims — arising from delay, mis-supply, or use of the goods. Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under Kenyan law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
Intellectual property
The design, text, images, logos, and product photography on this website are owned by School Lab Distributors Ltd or licensed to us. You may view, print, or share pages for legitimate institutional procurement use. Any other reproduction — including republication on another commercial site — requires our prior written consent.
Use of this website
We make this site available on an "as is" basis. While we work hard to keep product information accurate and pricing current, we do not warrant that every detail is free of error. You agree not to:
- Use the site to transmit any unlawful, harmful, or misleading content.
- Attempt to interfere with the site's normal operation, security, or underlying infrastructure.
- Scrape or harvest data from the site for commercial republication.
We may suspend or withdraw access to the site, in whole or in part, without notice for maintenance or security reasons.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute that cannot be resolved by good-faith discussion will be referred to the courts of Nairobi.
